Corned Beef Patty

Thursday, July 26, 2012

In the Islamic month of Ramadhan, Muslims are having their meal that eaten before they start to fast during daylight hours , called Suhoor (or Sahur in Bahasa). This meal is consumed early in the morning, just before fajr or dawn. Suhoor is highly regarded by Islamic traditions to benefit of the blessings and to avoid crankiness or weakness caused by the fast.

In Indonesia, I believe that many Muslim families serve instant foods for Suhoor due to its fast and simple preparation. Chicken nugget, sausage, canned sardines, and corned beef are the typical instant foods that most families would have. And for me, as a person who lives alone and far from home, instant foods are also become my preference. But of course having instant foods everyday is boring and lack of nutritions. There is something you can work on these instant foods, you can add other ingredients to make it more appetizing.

This time, I will show you how to cook a corned beef patty from an instant, canned-corned beef. The ingredients are very simple, and it is very easy to do.

Ingredients

The picture above shows the ingredient you'll need for this recipe. They are:
  • 1 can of corned beef
  • half of onion
  • 1 egg
  • 75 ml of milk
  • A cup of bread crumbs
  • Maggie seasoning
  • Salt & Pepper
  • All-purposed flour (optional)

How-to

1. Pour a can of corned beef into a bowl. Make sure that the corned beef used here is the high-quality corned beef, not the one that has too soft texture and thin consistency. I use Bernardi here, this is the best quality corned beef I ever find.

2. Chop a half of an onion

3. Soak a cup of bread crumbs with milk

4. Put them together with the corned beef, add an egg, then stir them well

5. Add some drops of Maggie seasoning

6. Add salt and pepper to taste

7. If you still haven't got a thick consistency of the mixture, you can add some flour until it is thicken.

8. Shape the mixture. Don't forget to sprinkle some flour on the top of the base to avoid the patty stick on the surface.

9. Fry the patty in the preheat oil

10. Served it with mayonnaise and sprinkle a chili powder on top

See,  it's very easy, isn't it? Good luck in the kitchen! :)
